A simple backup strategy for the devices you rely on

Backup planning is less about a particular drive and more about a routine you will keep. The goal is to recover important files after loss, damage, failure, or an accidental deletion.

What to evaluate

Copy count

Keep more than one copy of critical files and avoid treating the working computer as the only location that matters.

Separate locations

A copy stored away from the primary device reduces the risk that a single incident affects everything at once.

Automation

A backup that runs reliably is more valuable than an ambitious process that is easy to postpone. Use reminders or built-in tools where they fit.

Restore test

Periodically open recovered files. A backup plan is only complete when you know you can retrieve what you need.
